Arrowhead Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer Association

The Arrowhead Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping both patients and members of the community through a variety of programs such as the Patient Crisis Fund, Baby Express Closet, Baby Car Seats, “Remember Me,” The Wellness Connection, Camisole Care and Childbirth Classes. These programs are funded by proceeds from the Kachina Gift Shop (located in the hospital lobby) and through other activities, including golf tournaments and fashion shows.
More than 95% of the funds raised by the Auxiliary go directly to the programs and services we provide to the community. These programs include:

The Wellness Connection
The Wellness Connection is a unique health and wellness center where members of the community can attend free and low-cost health-related classes. Please click on this link to learn more about all of the resources The Wellness Connection offers.

Patient Crisis Fund
Patients needing help to cover the cost of medications, equipment or other recovery-related items can receive up to $250 in assistance from the Auxiliary each year. Referral is required from the hospital’s Social Services Department.

Baby Express Closet
Unfortunately, there are babies born in our community who need clothing to wear home from the hospital. The Baby Express Closet, stocked by Auxiliary members, provides any baby in need with a new season-appropriate outfit, a receiving blanket, and a packet of diapers. Referral is required from the hospital’s Social Services Department.

Baby Car Seats
The Auxiliary often provides an infant car seat to families who cannot afford one. Referrals are made by the Arrowhead Hospital Social Services Department.

“Remember Me” - Memento Box
Nothing is more heartbreaking than the loss of a baby. The Auxiliary knows that nothing can fill the void left by that loss. To give some support, they provide the grieving families with memento boxes in which to store the keepsakes representing a life lost all too soon. Hand-made burial gowns are also often available through the generosity of selected Auxiliary and community members.

Camisole Care
Patients who have undergone a mastectomy at Arrowhead Hospital receive a special camisole through the Cancer Resource Center. This camisole is fitted to accommodate drainage tubes and bags required to be left in place after the patient leaves the hospital.

Young Mothers Childbirth Classes
This program, unique to Arrowhead Hospital, provides materials and literature to teach teen mothers what to expect during pregnancy, labor, and delivery. It also provides these young mothers with information to help them make the best choices when planning for the future of their babies.

High School Scholarships
Each year, the Auxiliary invests in the lives of six high school seniors who plan to go to college to enter a career in the healthcare field.

Puppy Love
Puppy Love was recently voted by patients and staff as the most popular program at Arrowhead Hospital. The Auxiliary supports canine visitors by purchasing uniform bandanas, supplies, and recognition awards for our four-legged volunteers and their handlers.

The Auxiliary Volunteer Association also supports the development of friendships through social activities and volunteering at Arrowhead Hospital. We enhance customer service at the hospital by greeting patients and visitors at the doors when they enter the hospital, escorting patients and family members through the facility, driving the courtesy cart, and working in the Kachina Gift Shop. Volunteering at the hospital is not a requirement of Auxiliary membership.
